This is a handmade ceramic mug with relief texture of a real Grand Fir branch, a tree of the PNW. The piece was constructed with slabs of clay that were textured on molds I made of fresh Oregon conifer branches. A line pattern decorates the edges and seams, the mug bottom and interior are decorated as well. Every piece is stamped with the type of tree decorating the ceramic surface. Underglaze color was painted on to highlight the textured surface. The mug was covered with a food safe clear glaze, then tucked back in my electric kiln and fired to a bit over 2200°F. About 4" tall.
